An art deco guilloche enamel box designed by Karl Neudolt.

This is a fabulous rectangular antique case-box, created in Vienna Austria by the silversmith Karl Neudolt, back in the 1922. The beautiful box has been crafted with art deco geometric patterns in solid .900/.999 standard silver with gilded interiors. The box is embellished with a gorgeous engine turned guilloche, which is topped with blue glass enamel and accented with a floriated patterns made up in yellow gold, all inside a rectangular neo-classic frame treated with black enamel. The box is fitted with a lid mounted in a concealed seven barrels hinge.

Weight: 150.5 Grams, (96.47 Dwt).

Measurements: 83 mm by 61 mm by 14 mm (3.25 x 2.40 x 0.56 Inches).

Hallmarks: Both parts are stamped with Austrian marks; the 2W for the city of Vienna; the maker's mark KN, associated to Karl Neudolt, the mark for the assay of the .900/.999 silver, the serial cases number and signed, "KN STERLING .900  5". In addition is stamped at the edge with an import mark for Czechoslovakia.

Guilloché 

This is a term used in fine jewelry or objects de Vertu to enhance the appearance of boxes, frames, brooches, rings or pendants. Guilloché enamel refers to metal pieces that have been given the Guilloché treatment and then covered with a translucent layer of enamel, giving the geometric patterns underneath the enamel a colorful hue.

ConditionThe overall condition of this box is impeccable. Beside the little normal wear, there is no trace of wear to the silver. The enamel is secured in the settings and this piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and the authenticity.
