CHAUMET 1970 Modernist Sculptural Ring In 18Kt Yellow Gold With Geometric Lapis
A sculptural geometric ring designed by Chaumet.
This is a fabulous sculptural cocktail ring created in Paris, France by the renowned jewelry house of Chaumet, circa 1970. The ring has been masterfully hand crafted in solid 18-karat yellow gold, designed with bold retro-modernist and geometric patterns that reflect the distinctive aesthetic of the period. The surface is enhanced by a combination of polished and hammered finishes, adding depth, texture, and visual sophistication. At the top, the piece is set with a striking carved blue lapis lazuli, whose rich color and organic form create a beautiful contrast against the structured gold setting. This is a very rare design from the period, seldom encountered on the market, and represents an exceptional addition to any serious jewelry collection.
The house of Chaumet
The French born jeweler, Marie-Etienne Ninot began his career as an assistant court-jeweler to the queen Marie Antoinette. In 1780, he moved to Paris and founded the House of Chaumet, and was appointed as jeweler to emperor Napoleon in 1802. During this period, Ninot became one of the most popular jewelers in Europe, establishing a loyal and continuous prestigious clientele. today the house remains as a luxury jewelry house under the name Chaumet Paris. At the beginning of the modernist era between the end of the 60's and the beginning of the 70's, many jewelry houses, such as Cartier, Kutchinsky and Chaumet experimented with exceptional modernist designs, this brooch is one of them which we consider magnificent and very elegant.
