ANGELA CUMMINGS 1985 Clips-On Inlaid Earrings In 18Kt Gold With Rubellites

This is a very rare and beautiful pair of clips-on earrings created by Angela Cummings at her own atelier in New York City, back in the 1985. These modernist earrings were carefully crafted with pear bombe shapes in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with high polished finish. They are embellished with two gorgeous natural vivid red rubellites and eighty-eight carvings of black jade. They are fitted at the reverse with comfortable hinged French omega backs for fastening clips and the addition of gold posts for pierced ears can be easily done.

Rubellites: Mount in bezel settings, with 2 well matched pear faceted cut (7 x 10 x 5 mm), carved from natural vivid red rubellites, with a combined weight of about 3.78 carats.
Black Jade: Mount in inlaid settings, with 88 calibrated flat cabochons cut carved from natural black jade, with a total combined weight of about 22 carats.
Birthstone: Rubellite for the month of October.
Weight: 20.95 Grams, (13.5 Dwt).
Measurements: 26 mm by 22 mm by 10 mm (1.02 x 0.87 x 0.40 Inch).
Hallmarks: They are both stamped with the maker's mark, the mark for the assay and warranty of the 18kt yellow gold and signed in full as follows, "©ANGELA CUMMINGS .750".
Angela Cummings
She was born in 1944 in Klagenfurt in Austria. She takes her education at the art academy in Perugia, Italy and at the Zeichenakademie in Hanau, West Germany. in the 1967 she joined Tiffany & Co working under the guidance of Donald Claflin and in the 1975, she was the artistic director for her exclusive line brand Cummings. in 1984 she started her own line of jewelry to be retailed exclusively at an in-boutique store at Bergdorf Goodman, in New York city. now she's retired from the jewelry business. These earrings are a very nice collector's piece, both her signed pieces for Tiffany & Co. created in the 1970's and 1980's and also her own exclusive pieces, remain highly collectible and are admired for their beauty, comfort and easily recognizably in style.
