This iconic pair of clips-on earrings was created in New York City by Jean Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co, back in 1970's. These earrings are a classic, beautifully crafted with rounded shapes in solid yellow gold of 18 karats and finished with textured patterns. They are embellished with applications of black enamel and two cultured round white pearls. Fitted with hinged omega backs for fastening clips and the addition of gold posts for pierced ears can be easily done.
Pearls: Mounted in bar settings, with 2 matching cultured round white pearls of 9 mm.
Weight: 22.45 Grams (14.40 Dwt.).
Measurements: 24 mm by 22 mm by 14 mm (0.95 x 0.87 x 0.55 Inches).
Hallmarks: They are both stamped with the maker's mark, the mark for the assay and warranty of the 18kt gold and signed in full as follows, "©T&CO. SCHLUMBERGER .750 ".
Jean Schlumberger
In 1956, he was asked by the president of Tiffany & Co. Walter Hovin to begin designing for the firm. He had his own workshop at the company until his retirement in the late 1970's and was eventually made vice president of the company. Schlumberger designs at tiffany were remarkable for their whimsical interpretation of natural forms. He was especially inspired by the sea creatures and others animals. He was an exceptional designer, jeweler and a master enameller.
