About These Emeralds
The Chivor mining area is located northeast of Colombia's capital Bogotá, in proximity to the present-day small municipalities of Somondoco and Almeida to the north and Gachalá and Ubalá to the southwest. They are one of the most desirable emerald colors are bluish green to pure green, with vivid color saturation and tone that's not too dark. The most-prized emeralds are highly transparent. Their color is evenly distributed, with no eye-visible color zoning. Muzo emeralds have a deeper green, while Chivor emeralds are lighter with bluish tones. In transparency, the Chivor emeralds tend to have greater clarity and fewer or no inclusions. In size, the Muzo emeralds are generally larger compared to Chivor emeralds.
