Tiffany Co 1976 By Donald Claflin Crisscross Double X Earrings In Solid 18Kt Yellow Gold
Pair of crisscross earrings designed by Donald Claflin for Tiffany & Co.
A classic three-dimensional pair with two oversized x crossover. These earrings were crafted at the Tiffany studios by Donald Claflin in solid yellow gold of 18 karats, with very high polished finish and suited at the reverse, with posts for pierced ears and omega backs for fastening clips.
This pair is pretty large, with a total weight of 25.9 grams and a measurements of 28 mm BY 16 mm (1.10 x 0.63 inch).
Stamped, with the maker's mark, the hallmark for the assay of the gold and signed, "TIFFANY & CO 750 18 KT".
Donald Claflin (1935-1979) was an American jewelry designer most associated with the colorful and whimsical designs he created for tiffany & co. during the sixties and seventies. His start in jewelry came when he joined the firm of David Webb, known for their buoyantly enameled figurative jewels that were a fresh contrast to the formality of the fifties. In 1965 Claflin was hired by tiffany & co. to continue in the innovative and individualistic design approach that designer Jean Schlumberger had so successfully established at the firm.
