Tiffany & Co. France 1980 Paloma Picasso Geometric Hoop Earrings in 18Kt Yellow Gold
Pair of Graffiti earrings designed by Paloma Picasso for Tiffany & Co.
Very rare collector's pieces, created in Paris France by Paloma Picasso back in the 1980. These pair of inedit hoop earrings are most probably prototypes crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats, with high polish finish. Suited with comfortable French omega backs for fastening clips and the posts option can be easily added.
They have a combined weight of 19.95 grams and a measurements of 25.2 mm by 16.5 mm (1 x 0.63 Inches).
Each pair is stamped at the reverse, with French hallmarks; the national eagle's head and the minerva head for export, the maker's maitre mark, the gold assay hallmark and signed in full, "TIFFANY & CO. .750 PALOMA PICASSO FRANCE".
Paloma Picasso was the Daughter of the artists Pablo Picasso and Françoise Gilot. Paloma has been a creative force since the day she was born. Growing up in France, she was surrounded by art and was always encouraged to create herself, which she did with great enthusiasm—firstly, with childhood drawings and, later, through her now iconic jewelry collections for tiffany. Embodying the art and culture movement of the 1980s in New York city, Paloma was a progressive choice for Tiffany & Co.
Note: We have not been able to locate another pair of earrings like this, although we have seen this pattern in rings. Checking the contrast marks on the back, we can safely infer that they are some kind of prototypes or only a few were made. We have seen this fact before, specifically with pieces by Donald Claflin and Paloma Picasso that suddenly an unpublished piece appears on the market which was not put into production.
They are in great condition with gorgeous look.
