Clip-on earrings designed by Paloma Picasso for Tiffany & Co.

Very rare and fantastic collector's pieces, created in Paris France by Paloma Picasso for the Tiffany Studios, back in the 1980. These pair of earrings has been crafted in the shape of shells in solid yellow gold of 18 karats, with textured finish. They was made at the workshop of George L'Enfant and they are fitted with comfortable French omega backs for fastening clips. The addition of posts can be easily done.

Diamonds: Mount in a French flush setting, with 58 round brilliant cut diamonds, 0.87 carats, white colorless E/F color, VS-2 clarity.

Weight: 39.95 grams (25.61 Dwt).

Measurements: 36 mm by 29 mm (1.42 x 1.14 Inches).

Hallmarks: Each pair is stamped at the reverse, with French marks; the national eagle's head for the assay and warranty of the gold, the maker's maitre mark GL inside a lozange shaped cartouche, associated to the workshop of George L'Enfant, the five digits serial numbers and signed in full, "TIFFANY & CO. .750 PALOMA PICASSO FRANCE 10349".

L'Enfant, Georges | Antique Jewelry University

Note: The jewelry atelier of George L'Enfant, was located in Paris, at 47 rue Des Petits-Champs. An extremely rare collector's pieces in perfect condition, with no previous repairs and with all the aged rich vintage patina intact.

Paloma Picasso

She was the Daughter of the artists Pablo Picasso and Françoise Gilot. Paloma has been a creative force since the day she was born. Growing up in France, she was surrounded by art and was always encouraged to create herself, which she did with great enthusiasm—firstly, with childhood drawings and, later, through her now iconic jewelry collections for tiffany. Embodying the art and culture movement of the 1980s in New York city, Paloma was a progressive choice for Tiffany & Co.

Note: We have not been able to locate another pair of earrings like this, although we have seen this pattern in bracelets. Checking the contrast marks on the back, we can safely infer that they are some kind of prototypes or only a few were made. We have seen this fact before, specifically with pieces by Donald Claflin and Paloma Picasso that suddenly an unpublished piece appears on the market which was not put into production.

Collateral: They are accompanied by a presentation jewelry box.

ConditionThe overall condition of this earrings is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. All diamonds are secured in the settings. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
