Gorgeous and unusual oversized pieces, created by Donald Claflin for Tiffany back in the 1970's. This massive ropes clips earrings was crafted in Paris France, in solid yellow gold of 18 karats, with textured and polished surfaces. The design is Composed by twisted and plain patterns and suited at the reverse with French omega backs for fastening clips. The posts option for pierced ears can be easily added.
They have a combined weight of 37.6 Grams and the measurements are 36mm by 18mm (1.42 x 0.71 Inches).
Stamped, with the French national eagle's head for the guaranty of the 18kt gold, the maker's mark, the gold assay hallmark and signed, "TIFFANY & CO 18KT".
Donald Claflin (1935-1979) was an American jewelry designer most associated with the colorful and whimsical designs he created for tiffany & co. during the sixties and seventies. His start in jewelry came when he joined the firm of David Webb, known for their buoyantly enameled figurative jewels that were a fresh contrast to the formality of the fifties. In 1965 Claflin was hired by tiffany & co. to continue in the innovative and individualistic design approach that designer Jean Schlumberger had so successfully established at the firm.
