*Tiffany & Co. by Donald Claflin Cocktail ring in 18 kt gold with 6.06 Cts in aquamarine and diamonds

Cocktail ring designed by Donald Claflin for Tiffany & Co.

Beautiful iconic cocktail ring, crafted in solid white gold of 18 karats, with high polished finish. It is  mounted, with one rectangular cushion checkerboard cut (10 x 12 x 8 mm) of a natural blue aquamarine of 5.79 carats.

Accented at the sides, with 18 round brilliants cuts diamonds, 0.27 carats, E/F color, VS-1 clarity.

Have a weight of 14.3 grams and the actual size is 5.75, sizable. The top view measures are12 mm by 22 mm and rise 9 mm over the finger.

Stamped, with the maker's mark, the gold assay hallmark and signed, "TIFFANY & CO. .750 2000".

Donald Claflin (1935-1979) was an American jewelry designer most associated with the colorful and whimsical designs he created for tiffany & co. during the sixties and seventies. His start in jewelry came when he joined the firm of David Webb, known for their buoyantly enameled figurative jewels that were a fresh contrast to the formality of the fifties. In 1965 Claflin was hired by tiffany & co. to continue in the innovative and individualistic design approach that designer Jean Schlumberger had so successfully established at the firm.

They believed the blue gem would protect the travelers during storms while traveling across the seas. Ancient cultures also thought aquamarine was a token of love between dating and married couples.
