Rare nephrite heart necklace by Elsa Peretti (1940-2021) for Tiffany & Co.
An unusual vintage piece designed by Elsa Peretti, back in the 1970's. It was created at the Tiffany Studios in New York and designed as a pendant necklace in the form of a large asymmetric heart. The main element is carved from a solid single piece of natural green nephrite jade and actually is suspended from a gold box chain of 19 inches. This piece can be used in any type of chain or a silk cord.
The interesting fact about Peretti's pieces, is that all of them are not equals, each piece have his own personality and are unique, with light variations in shape, color and contour.
The pendant have a total weight of 20.3 grams and a measures of 46 mm by 47 mm (1.81 x 1.85 inches).
The designer Elsa Peretti joined Tiffany & Co in the 1974 and change the role of diamonds and color gemstones in fashion for the everyday wear and elevating the status of the sterling silver jewelry. mostly using unusual gemstones and materials. all her creations are as modern today as ever.
Note: all pieces from this Peretti's period are highly collectible. actually all models from this collection are retired from production.
This rare piece is in perfect condition with no chips, cracks or restorations. The nephrite jade is natural, gem quality and not dyed.
