Beautiful modernist ring created in New York city by Donald Claflin at the Tiffany Studios, back in the early 1970's.
The geometric design is composed by a fluted shaped bypass, with both squared ends elements, prong set with 8 round cut sapphires (1.20 Ctw) and two round brilliant cut diamonds (.05 Ctw).
Has a total weight of 11.6 grams and the actual size is 7, sizable.
Stamped, with the maker's mark, the gold assay hallmark and signed "TIFFANY & CO. 18 KT".
Donald Claflin, (1935-1979) was an American jewelry designer most associated with the colorful and whimsical designs he created for tiffany & co. during the sixties and seventies. His start in jewelry came when he joined the firm of David Webb, known for their buoyantly enameled figurative jewels that were a fresh contrast to the formality of the fifties. In 1965 Claflin was hired by tiffany & co. to continue in the innovative and individualistic design approach that designer Jean Schlumberger had so successfully established at the firm.
