An art deco desk clock with blue enamel.
This is an exceptional desk clock, made in Switzerland during the art deco period, around the 1915. The craftsmanship of this beautiful desk clock is exceptional and was designed with geometric patterns. The case is square and was crafted in solid sterling silver .925/.999 with inclined sides and chamfered. The four sides and the top are embellished with a fabulous engine turned Guilloché design, which is topped with applications of vivid blue glass enamel and white enamel inlaid.
Dial: The dial is round, made in porcelain, analog with Arabic numbers and blued steel Breguet hands.
Movement: Swiss, Mechanical 8 days, manual winding with integral key wound from the back.
Weight: 201.95 Grams, (129.56 Dwt).
Measurements: 82.55 mm by 82.55 mm by 31.75 mm (3.25 x 3.25 x 1.25 Inches).
Hallmarks: The case is stamped with the mark for the assay of the silver, "Sterling".
Guilloché
This technique is used in fine jewelry to enhance the appearance of brooches, rings and pendants. Guilloché enamel refers to metal pieces that have been given the Guilloché treatment and then covered with a translucent layer of enamel, giving the geometric patterns underneath the enamel a colorful hue.
Note: The case and the clock movement has been professionally cleaned and serviced. The clock is in excellent working condition. The silver has not been heavy polished to preserve the patina, in original excellent antique condition.
Condition: The overall condition of this clock is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the silver. The enamel is in great condition. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
