Steven Battelle
Since 1987, Steven Battelle has been crafting artisan jewelry inspired by his fascination with the imagery and ornamentation of ancient cultures in South East Asia. What initially started as a hobby evolved into a drastic career change, with Steven diverging from his life as an exotic animal veterinarian to pursue jewelry design. Cabochon stones are what Steven really digs; these stones without faceting were the materials which with the ancient cultures of Egypt, Mesopotamia, and Asia created the first jewelry. Steven, in partnership with a team of Balinese artisans, employs both traditional handmade and modern techniques to draw out the natural characteristics of each stone. His adventurous exploration of ancient motifs, inherent eye for design has given Battelle the ability to forge connections via his pieces of wearable art.
