Sasportas 1920 Paris Art Deco Buddha Pendant In Platinum With Diamonds Amethyst & Pearls

A beautiful and fabulous antique piece from the French Art-Deco period, circa 1920. Designed with a very conceptual and symbolic thoughts that shows the figure of Buddha, seated and enthroned on a lotus, meditating peacefully among the clouds.
This rare art-piece was master crafted by the famous Parisian jewelry atelier of Sasportas. Made in 18 karats white gold and platinum, with applications of black hot enamel. Embellished with natural gemstones and rare white pearls. All the elements are individually assembled with invisibles screws and pins.
The Buddha figure is carved from a single piece of natural translucent Russian purple Amethyst and is wearing a miniature chained necklace, mounted with an old kite faceted cut diamond.
The white gold settings are embellished with millegrain finish and are set, with 122 old European cut diamonds, 2.52 Carats, G/H color, VS/SI clarity.
The hat is topped with a 5 mm natural white pearl and the throne is flanked by two additional natural white pearls of 4 mm. The entire piece rests on a huge oversized and unusual natural white nacreous formation of a pearl (the cloud) of 36 mm by 23 mm by 20 mm.
Has a total weight of 54.35 Grams and a measures of 51 mm by 85.5 mm by 20 mm (2 x 3.37 x 0.79 Inches).
Stamped with French control hallmarks; two times with the national eagle's head for the assay and guaranty of the 18 kt gold and the maker's maitre cartouche SAS associated to the Sasportas atelier.
Note: The French Maison Sasportas has won the gold medal in the Exhibition of Decorative Arts in 1925 and is known for producing very fine jewels with geometric and retro elements and combining, with different rare and unusual gemstones. All the pieces they produced are one-of-a-kind. It was also used as a workshop by other French jewelry houses such as Cartier and Van Cleef and Arpels.
