Native American Navajo hoops earrings

An exceptional tribal piece with gorgeous eye appeal, created in Arizona by the Navajo native Americans back in the 1970's. This unusual colorful pair of hoops earrings was completely crafted in solid .935/.999 sterling silver with butterfly backs in 18 kt yellow gold. They are fitted with posts for pierced ears and embellished with multiples elongated cabochons cuts of natural blue sleeping beauty turquoise from Arizona, pink coral, white nacre and black onyx.

Weight: 24.4 grams, (15.64 Dwt).

Measurements: 45 mm by 12.5 mm (1.77 x 0.49 Inches).

Hallmarks: Tested for .935/.999 sterling silver and .750/.999 yellow gold.

NoteHigh-quality Native American tribal pieces like this pair of earrings are rare. The workmanship, the design and the way in which the turquoises are graduated denotes an unusual ingenuity of the craftsman who made it.

Sleeping Beauty turquoise is noted for its solid, light blue color with no matrix. The host rock is granite. Sleeping Beauty turquoise is the favorite of Zuni Pueblo lapidaries and silversmiths for the purity in color. This mine was one of the largest in North America. Since the early 1970s, this mine was a major producer of turquoise. Artisans and jewelry companies love Sleeping Beauty Turquoise for its lack of matrix and reliable even color. This mine is still active and currently produces copper. The Sleeping Beauty turquoise mine was named after the mountain range where it is located, which from a distance is said to resemble a sleeping woman with her arms crossed. Increased government regulations and mining costs led to the mine's closure in 2012.

Collateral: They are accompanied by a presentation jewelry box.

Condition: The overall condition of these earrings are excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the sterling silver. All the turquoises and other gemstones, are secured in the settings. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and the authenticity.
