MUNSTEINER Sculptural Geometric Ring In Platinum & 18Kt Gold With Madeira Citrine
Geometric sculptural ring designed by Atelier Munsteiner.
This is a fabulous geometric cocktail ring, created in Germany with modernist patterns back in the 1980. The sculptural ring was carefully crafted with five sides in solid .950/.999 platinum and accents in 18 karats yellow gold with a delicate satin brushed finish. The sculptural ring is one of a kind, the platinum piece was exclusively manufactured to fit the geometric contour of the gem it displays. Mounted on top with a Munsteiner cut of a natural earth mined intense orange-red Santa Ana Madeira citrine.
Madeira Citrine
Madeira citrine is a trade name for natural citrine with a deep saturated colour. The finest stones are rich golden-reddish-brown. Because of the similarity in colour, the name comes from the Portuguese fortified wine from Madeira. Santa Ana Madeira citrine is one of the most valuable citrines, displaying an intensely saturated red-orange to red-brown color. Gemstones with highly saturated yellow, orange and reddish tones are considered to be the most valuable. This November birthstone is a variety of quartz that ranges from pale yellow to a honey orange color and has been used in jewelry for thousands of years. Popular as a stone that soothes tempers and calms the wearer, it is a popular and pretty gemstone. Some sources estimate that Madeira Citrine represents less than two-percent of all Citrine, but this is difficult to accurately quantify due to the nomenclature issues previously mentioned, it may be far less.

Atelier Munsteiner
The artists focuses on the innovative shaping of modern gemstones as a means to create exquisite masterpieces. The family-run firm has introduced numerous gem-cutting styles and shapes, gaining international recognition and acclaim. Bernd Munsteiner, known as the “Picasso of Gem-Cutters,” was the first contemporary jewelry artist to work with crystals. Creating the firm’s maxim of “designing the stone,” Bernd is famous for the images, objects d’art, and sculptures he creates from transparent minerals. Learning to cut and polish gems in the classical faceted style, Bernd’s son, Tom, later adopted the special geometric cuts his father had developed. Finally, Bernd's daughter, Jutta, specifically focuses on the design aspects of the business. While each Munsteiner brings a distinctive facet to the family firm, their works always culminate from Bernd’s original vision of releasing the aura from a stone.
