*Modernisme 1960 Moon Landing Ring in Textured 18 kt Gold with Diamond & Ruby
Textured Ring from the Space Race period.
Modernist piece, created in Europe during the late mid-century period, circa 1960. This "Lunar" ring has been crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats, with heavy textured surfaces.
Mounted in four-prongs setting, with natural gemstones; one round brilliant cut diamond (0.12 Cts) and one round vivid red ruby (0.20 Cts).
Has a total weight of 15.7 Grams and the actual size is 7, sizeable. The width measure is 18mm.
Stamped, with the maker's and the gold assay hallmark, "E. 18K".
Note: Between the 1960s and 1970s, several jewelry firms recreated themes about outer space in their pieces, and more particularly the race to launch to the moon. Individual companies such as Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels produced exceptional pieces such as the famous Manchet bracelets and Apollo XI earrings commissioned by Onassis from Lalaounis.
Very unusual ring in great condition.
