Medici Coat Of Arms 19th Century Italian Brooch Pendant In Solid 18Kt Yellow Gold
Brooch with the Medici Coat of Arms.
An antique Italian piece made in Florence, circa 1850 in the renaissance shape of the coat of arms of the Medici family. It was crafted in three-dimensions in solid 18 karats of textured yellow gold and suited with a hinged horizontal pin bar with a twisted lock.
The design is composed of renaissance elements of volutes and tassels adorning a central oval with five spheres. All this crowned by a Ducal Crown.
Have a total weight of 21.4 grams and a measures of 38 mm by 31 mm.
Stamped, with the maker's cartouche and the gold assay hallmarks, "K18".
The Medici Family, were a powerful and influential family of the renaissance in Florence among whose members stood out four popes: Leo x, Clement vii, Pius iv and Leo xi; two queens of France: Catherine de Medici and Marie de Medici; and numerous Florentine leaders, members of the royal houses of France and England, who stood out as patrons, sponsoring artists and scientists of their time.
It is in perfect condition with great eye appeal and the original patina intact.
