This is a beautiful and very decorative miniature chest created in Birmingham England by the silversmiths of Lévi & Salaman, back in 1902. The miniature chest was carefully crafted with parts made up in .925/999 sterling silver and wood. It is fitted with drawer and a swivel mirror. The piece was made during the Edwardian period with elegant sleek lineS. It is in very good condition considering is one-hundred-twenty-five years old
Lévi & Salaman
Levi & Salaman were Birmingham based silversmiths founded in 1870 by Phineas Harris Levi and Joseph Wolff Salaman. They manufactured gilt costume Jewellery and then progressed into more expensive silver Jewellery and transferred to larger premises in 1872. In 1878 they purchased Potosi Silver Co, a small manufacturer of silverplate spoons and forks. Their wares were a great success and they again moved to bigger manufacturing works in 1885. Levi died in 1910 and the firm was converted to a limited company – Levi & Salaman Ltd with Joseph Wolff Salaman, Clive Joseph Levi (P. H. Levi’s son) and Lewis Henry Salaman listed as directors. The Potosi Silver Co was listed as a subsidiary. In 1921 both amalgamated with Barker Brothers Silversmiths Ltd.

Condition: The overall condition of this desk chest by Levi & Salaman is very good. Besides the little normal wear, there is no damage or dents to the silver. Very minor cosmetic that don't detract. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
