This is a beautiful and exceptionally rare desk petrol lighter, created by the American silversmith firm Lebkuecher & Co. of Newark, New Jersey, circa 1910–1915, during the late Edwardian period. Masterfully handcrafted in solid sterling silver, this elegant table lighter is mounted upon a superbly carved green jade body of exceptional quality. The silver case features refined Louis XVI-inspired decorative motifs, meticulously chiseled throughout, and is supported by four elaborately designed silver sabots.

Lebkuecher & Co.
They were an American silversmith firm based in Newark, New Jersey, active from 1896 to 1918. The company was recognized for producing finely crafted sterling silver hollowware, novelties, vanity objects, and decorative accessories, often reflecting the artistic influences of the Art Nouveau and Arts & Crafts movements of the early 20th century. Founded in 1896 by Arthur E. Lebkuecher, Frank A. Lebkuecher, and Charles C. Wientge, a former designer associated with the Howard Sterling Company, the firm developed a reputation for quality craftsmanship and innovative silverwork. Among its notable commissions were custom medals created for members of Theodore Roosevelt’s Rough Riders, highlighting the company's ability to execute specialized presentation pieces. The firm later operated under the name Francis A. Lebkuecher & Co. from 1912 to 1918. Its silver pieces are typically identified by the distinctive maker’s mark featuring a crescent moon enclosing the letter “L”, sometimes accompanied by sterling silver hallmarks. In 1918, the company was acquired by Eleder Co., later known as Eleder-Hickok Co., which continued to use the Lebkuecher hallmark for a period after the acquisition.
