Presentation Tebako box from the Japanese Meiji period (1868-1912).
Beautiful decorative presentation Tebako desk box from the Japanese Imperial Meiji period, circa 1880. This box has been meticulously crafted with a rectangular shape in precious red wood and burl wood. Beautifully crafted with precise carvings, it is adorned with a sculptural plaque depicting a monk, scribe, or scholar seated on the ground and leaning on a table. The appliqué is made of polished and patinated bronze, accented with 24-karat gold inserts. All of this is framed in a frame of geometric metopes. This is a stunning decorative box that can to be used for any purpose and with excellent eye appeal.
