HENRI GARGAT, PARIS 1970 VERY RARE KINETIC OPTICAL MOVEABLE RING
A GREAT SCULPTURAL RING DESIGNED BY HENRI GARGAT (1928-).
FABULOUS AND UNUSUAL KINETIC RING MADE IN FRANCE IN THE EARLY 1970'S. THIS PIECE WAS CREATED BY THE GOLDSMITH HENRI GARGAT, IN SOLID STAINLESS-STEEL. THE RING IS COMPOSED BY THREE ELEMENTS, ONE IS THE SQUARE-SHAPED MAIN BODY, THE OTHER IS A CIRCULAR DISC THAT SPIN 360 DEGREES AND THE TOP ONE, MOVE BACK AND FORTH.
WHEN THE RING IS IN MOTION, ITS MOVEMENT FORCES THE LARGE MOVEABLE DISC TO SPIN IN THEIR AXIS AND THE SMALLED DISK AT TOP, TO MOVE BACK AND FORTH OVER THE RAIL ELEMENTS.
HENRI GARGAT (1928-) IS A FRENCH ARTIST, DESIGNER AND GOLDSMITH. HE IS CONSIDERED ONE OF THE PIONEERS OF THE FRENCH 20th CENTURY AVANT-GARDE JEWELRY. HIS CREATIONS ARE INNOVATIVE AND VERY CREATIVE DESIGNS, USING COMMON MATERIALS SUCH, ACRYLIC, STEEL AND IN SOME CASES MERCURY. HE OPEN HIS FIRST ATELIER IN PARIS IN 1957 AT THE ILE SAINT-LOUIS. FROM 1978, HENRI GARGAT DEDICATED TO A WORK OF RESEARCH ON MATERIALS SUCH AS WOOD, EBONY AND JASPER. WHICH HE INTERPRETS IN MONUMENTAL FORMS MAINTENING HIS JEWELRY PIECES WITH THE FUNTIONAL USE.
THIS PIECE IS PRETTY BOLD AND HEAVY WITH A TOTAL WEIGHT OF 58.9 Grams, THE ACTUAL SIZE IS 6, CANNOT BE ENLARGED, CAN BE DOWN SIZED WITH AN INVISSIBLE RING ADJUSTER.
THE TOP VIEW DIAMETER IS 30 mm (1.18 Inches). THE RING STAND 35 mm.
STAMPED WITH HIS CIRCULAR LOGO AND SIGNED, "GARGAT".
AS A NOTE, JEWELRY BY GARGAT ARE NOT USUAL TO SEE IN THE MARKET, THEY ARE HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE PIECES. THIS RING CAME FROM A FRENCH COLLECTION WE RECENTLY ADQUIRED.
