IMPRESSIVE BRUTALIST NECKLACE AND EARRINGS SET DESIGNED BY GUBELIN. CREATED IN SWITZERLAND AROUND THE 1970'S, AN EXTREMELY RARE SUITE FROM THE GUBELIN GRAND CANYON COLLECTION. IS TOTALLY HAND CRAFTED IN SOLID 18 KARATS OF HIGH POLISHED YELLOW GOLD.
THE NECKLACE IS SUITED WITH A PUSH LOCK AND A FIGURE 8 FOR EXTRA SECURITY. THE EARRINGS HAVE OMEGA BACKS FOR FASTENING CLIP AND THE POSTS OPTION CAN BE EASILY ADDED.
THIS PIECE IS COMPOSED BY 19 GRADUATED ABSTRACTS HIGH POLISHED LINKS, EACH ONE WITH A BIG BRUTALIST FRACTURE IN THE MIDDLE GIVING THE IMPRESSION OF A DEEP CRACK.
THIS PIECES WAS ORIGINALLY RETAILED AT 3,300.- FOR THE NECKLACE PLUS 1,140.- FOR THE EARRINGS, THEY WAS FEATURED IN AN ADVERTISEMENT FOR GUBELIN AT THE NEW YORK MAGAZINE IN 1973. THE MOST RECENT AUCTION RESULT FOR JUST THE NECKLACE WAS IN THE 2013, AT THE SKINNER'S AUCTION 2641B, LOT 456 FOR 22,800.00 PLUS THE AUCTIONEER'S COMMISSIONS.
THIS SET HAVE A TOTAL WEIGHT OF 150.2 Grams, THE NECKLACE HAVE 121.7 Grams AND THE EARRINGS ARE 22.5 Grams.
FIT A NECK UP TO 16.5 INCHES AND BOTH PIECES ARE STAMPED WITH THE GUBELIN MAISON LOGO AND THE HALL MARKS "SWISS .750".
