Gorgeous brooch designed by Frascarolo (1928-1976).
A fantastic highly sculptured colorful piece, created by the famed Italian jeweler and designer, Pierino Frascarolo, back in the 1965. This brooch depict a whimsical roaring panther, facing forward, with his mouth open and showing their teeths.
This convertible pendant brooch has been crafted, in solid yellow gold of 18 karats and is fitted at the reverse with a hinged double vertical pins and a trombone security lock to wear as a brooch. Is is fully convertible since is fitted on top with a hinged bale to wear as a pendant in a long chain.
The entire panther body is decorated, with applications of red and black hot enamels.
Diamonds: The panther's face, the ears and the upper parts are pave set with 100 round brilliant cuts diamonds, with a combined weight of 3.02 carats, white colorless G/H color, VS-2 clarity.
Rubies: The eyes are bezel set with a pair of pear faceted cuts of natural Burmese red rubies (0.30 Ctw).
Lapis Lazuli: Bezel set with a curved cabochon cut carved from natural blue lapis lazuli.
Onyx: Fitted with a round divider carved from natural black onyx.
Weight: 79.70 grams (51.09).
Measurements: 110.5 mm by 36 mm by 32 mm (4.35 x 1.42 x 1.26 inches).
Hallmarks: Stamped in a plaque at the reverse, with Italian marks; the maker's mark for Frascarolo. the assay mark for the gold and signed in full, "MODELE DEPOSE F.C. MADE IN ITALY .750 18 KT".
Pierino Frascarolo, was born in 1928 in Milan Italy. He began his career as an apprentice with the Fratelli Lunati company. Subsequently, he founded his own firm with the partnership of Aldo Lenti. In 1948, he moved his jewelry factory to Corso Matteotti. He is well-known for his enamel and gold animals created throughout the 1960s. Later, Lenti and Frascarolo separated and the latter formed Frascarolo & co. in New York city with Mr. Adriano Gugliada. Frascarolo died in Valenza in July 1976 at the young age of just forty-eight.
