RARE HISTORICAL RING DESIGNED BY ED WIENER.
MADE IN NEW YORK CITY in the 1960's, AT HIS OWN ATELIER LOCATED IN THE 53 th. STREET & 5 th. AVENUE. IS TOTALLY HAND CRAFTED IN 18 KARATS YELLOW GOLD AND FINISHED WITH HAMMERED AND BRUSHED PATTERNS.
AN IMPRESSIVE ABSTRACT SCULPTURAL PIECE, BEZEL SET AT TOP WITH A NATURAL AUSTRALIAN OPAL, AN IRREGULAR SEMI OVAL CABOCHON CUT OF ABOUT 4 CARATS.
Ed Wiener (1918-1991), began his career in the artist's circles of the post-Bauhaus. Was very active at Provincetown and the Greenwich village in New York. Work immediately in the early days of the abstract expressionist movement of the post-war period, late 1940's. His most famous customers was the sculptor Louise Nevelson and Martha Graham, the dancer. He worked extensively in sterling silver until the beginning of the 1950 when he made a lot of sculptural pieces of jewelry in gold with precious gemstones.
THIS RARE PIECE HAVE A TOTAL WEIGHT OF 14.6 Grams AND THE ACTUAL SIZE IS 7.5, SIZE ABLE. IS STAMPED WITH THE ED WIENER LOGO AND SIGNED WITH THE HALL MARKS, "E W .750".
