DREXEL 1970-80 Chinoiserie Side Table In Carved Wood with Aged Gilding

This is a beautiful modernist Chinoiserie design by Drexel Heritage, with an embossed composite Asian scene on top of a parquet pattern with parsons table base. The table was entirely hand crafted in North Carolina in solid wood and embellished with inlaid and aged gildings.

This was a renowned American furniture manufacturer founded in 1903 in Drexel, North Carolina, known for high-quality, stylish, and durable home furnishings, including popular Mid-Century Modern, Mediterranean, and traditional styles. The company ceased operations in 2014, with its parent company filing for bankruptcy in 2018. The company was founded by Samuel Huffman, the company grew from a small North Carolina factory to become a major manufacturer. It underwent mergers (including with Heritage Furniture) and was part of the Masco Corporation before closing.
