Dinh Van 1960 Paris Retro Organic Pendant In 18Kt Gold With 13.90 Cts Aquamarine
A pendant-brooch designed by Jean Dinh Van.
An extremely rare one-of-a-kind sculptural piece. Created in Paris, France at the beginning of the 1960's by the French master designer Dinh Van. This piece is named "The nest". It was crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats and is suited at the reverse, with a hinged double pins and a trombone lock for security and a 6 mm bale to wear into a chain.
The design is composed by multiples organic free-forms elements, all attached as a embroidery mesh, inspired by a bird's nest. Is embellished in the center with a gemstone, as a housing symbol.
The gemstone is bezel set, is a fancy pyramidal cut of a natural blue aquamarine with a weight of 13.90 carats.
Have a total weight of 32.65 grams and a measures of 60 mm (2.36 inches) by 30 mm (1.18 inches).
Stamped, with French hallmarks; twice with the eagle's head for the assay and guaranty of the 18 kt gold, the maker's maitre cartouche, JDV for Jean Dinh Van and the engraved signature, "DINH VAN".
Jean Dinh Van is a French designer that began is successful career in the 1960 designing for the French jewelry houses of Cartier and Pierre Cardin. In 1972 he started his own company and the followed years his revolutionary designs and style caught on quickly and launched him to the forefront of the jewelry and fashion world. All his designs are very geometric and modern, both, his original vintage pieces created for Cartier and the contemporary creations are highly collectible. Dinh Van pieces are very fashionable, sophisticate and easy to wear, also can be displayed as a small toys, sculptures and "Objets du Vertu".
Note: This is one of the very earliest piece of jewelry that we ever seen from Dinh Van, surely is a studio design of his very beginning career as a jewelry designer, before he start working for the house of Cartier, between the 1967 and 1972.

Condition: The overall condition of this brooch is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. The gemstone, is secured in the settings. This pendant has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
