Azur-malachite earrings designed by David Webb (1925-1975).

This is an outstanding pair of clips hoops-earrings created in New York City at the jewelry atelier of David Webb, back in the 1970's. These vintage earrings have been carefully crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats finished with faceted, hammered and textured patterns. The earrings are embellished with two cabochon cuts carved from azur-malachite and are fitted at the reverse with concealed omega backs for fastening clips. The addition of gold posts for pierced ears may be easily done on special request.

Azur-malachite: Mount in bezel settings, with 2 round cabochons cut (16 x 16 x 10 mm) of blue-green azur-malachite, with a combined weight of about 24 carats.

Weight: 38.45 Grams, (24.65 Dwt).

Measurements: 31 mm by 22 mm by 30 mm (1.22 x 0.87 x 1.18 Inches).

Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark, the marks for the assay and warranty of the .750/.999 gold and signed as follow, "©WEBB 18 KT".

David Webb 

He was an American jeweler. On July 28, 1948, he founded David Webb, the company, which opened at 2 West 46th Street. Among his clients were Elizabeth Taylor, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Barbara Streisand and Beyoncé have also worn his jewelry. He born in Asheville, North Carolina in 1925, Webb was a self-taught designer whose work included dragon bracelets, Maltese cross brooches and animal motifs. In 1964, The Duke of Windsor purchased a bracelet for his wife. Diana Vreeland, a noted columnist and editor of Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue, was often seen with a David Webb black-and-white enamel zebra bangle.
