IMPECCABLE MING DYNASTY MINGQI OFFERING TABLE. AN ANCIENT EARLY PIECE, CREATED IN CHINA AROUND THE 1450 AD, DURING THE MING DYNASTY, BETWEEN THE 1368-1644 AD.
A VERY HANDSOME OFFERING TABLE WITH THREE OFFERINGS, MOST PROBABLY FROM AN EARLIER PERIOD, IS CRAFTED IN EARTHENWARE AND EMBELLISHED WITH SANCAI GLAZE OF AMBER, BLUE AND GREEN COLORS.
TOMB FIGURES LIKE THESE ARE PART OF A CLASS OF ARTIFACTS CALLED MINGQI, SOMETIMES CALLED SPIRIT UTENSILS OR VESSELS FOR GHOSTS. THEY BECAME POPULAR IN THE HAN DYNASTY AND WOULD PERSIST FOR SEVERAL CENTURIES. ALONGSIDE ITEMS LIKE THESE WERE ANIMALS, MUSICIANS, ATHLETES AND STRUCTURES, ANYTHING THE DECEASED MIGHT NEED TO RECREATE THE WORLD OF THE LIVING.
THE TABLE HAVE A MEASURES OF 10.25 BY 5 BY 6.25 INCHES.
IN PRETTY EXCELLENT CONDITION AND GOOD SHAPE WITH ABSOLUTELY NO REPAIRS.
