CARTIER Paris 1900 Edwardian Nécessaire Case In 18Kt Gold With Green Lacquer
A Nécessaire case designed by Cartier.
This is a fantastic nécessaire case box created in Paris France during the Edwardian period by the jewelry house of Cartier, back in the 1900. The fabulous Object De Vertu has been masterfully crafted in the style of Louis XVI in yellow gold of 18 karats and decorated with chiseled frames showing classical motifs. The surfaces are embellished with applications of non-glossy green lacquer decorated with tiny stars and accented with two European rose cut diamonds. The nécessaire appliances displayed in the interior are; a retractable pencil, a foldable scissor -accented with eight rose cuts diamonds-, a small pocket knife -decorated with the same green pattern of the exterior- and a stiletto with a little tong and a tiny spoon at the ends. The beautiful box if fitted with a delicate concealed five-barrels hinge and a push button for snapping lock. This piece is stamped with the serial number 164 denoting a very early work and signed; Cartier, Paris, London. New York.
