EXTREMELY RARE HAND MADE RING FROM CARTIER, PARIS.
VERY POPULAR HERCULES LOVE KNOT RING DESIGNED IN THE EARLY 1950'S. CRAFTED IN TWO TONES OF 18 KARAT GOLD, WHITE AND YELLOW. MOST PROBABLY A CUSTOM ORDER FROM A SPECIAL CLIENT OF CARTIER.
The Hercules Knot was notably a wedding symbol and also represented the virginity of the bride: this coming from the Roman lore that the Knot symbolized the legendary fertility of Hercules - relating to the girdle of Diana (Artemis) which was captured/retrieved from the Amazon Queen Hippolyta.
Later on, the Hercules Knot survived its religious uses with the Ancients and was actually still used during medieval times as a common symbol as well as also being Renaissance love tokens
THIS RARE RING ENGRAVED HALL MARK ".750 CARTIER PARIS 63390" THE OUTER BAND IS STAMPED WITH THE FRENCH EAGLE HEAD MARK FOR THE GOLD GUARANTEE AND THE SIGNET Ste M INSIDE A TRIANGLE CACHET. THIS RING HAVE TOTAL WEIGHT OF 13.52 GRAMS. HAVE A MEASURE OF 12 mm BY 22 mm, RISING 5 mm FROM THE FINGER. THIS RING HAVE A SIZE 5.5 BUT CAN BE PROFESSIONALLY RESIZED. IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH NICE OLD PATINA. A NEW CARTIER BOX IS ACCOMPANIED WITH THIS RING.
