Rare Austrian Petrol Lighter with Integrated Cigar Cutter, Vienna, Circa 1908–1912

This is a rare and ingenious Austrian petrol lighter with an integrated cigar cutter, made in Vienna circa 1908–1912, during the Austro-Hungarian Empire under Emperor Franz Joseph I. Crafted in solid polished sterling silver, this remarkable multipurpose object combines a fully functional petrol lighter with a built-in round cigar cutter, reflecting the inventive spirit and refined industrial design of the pre-World War I period. Stamped with Austrian silversmith marks and British import marks for London.

The lighter is fitted with a thumb-operated ignition wheel, a hinged lid, a petrol-filling screw with an attached ring, and a dedicated round pusher-style cigar cutter. The ingenious integration of two essential smoking accessories into a single compact object makes this lighter both exceptionally practical and highly unusual.

With its robust construction, sophisticated mechanical complexity, and distinctly masculine industrial character, this remarkable Austrian lighter is a particularly desirable object for collectors of antique lighters, tobacconist accessories, and Austro-Hungarian design. Fully functional and displaying gorgeous eye appeal, it represents an excellent example of early 20th-century European mechanical ingenuity and makes a superb historical conversation piece.
