Arthur King 1960 Organic Pendant Brooch In 18Kt Gold With 106.41 Cts In Diamonds Turquoise & Coral
A organic modernist pendant brooch designed by Arthur King.
A magnificent sculptural piece, created by the artist goldsmith Arthur King at his atelier in New York city, back in the middle of the 1960s. This colorful pendant-brooch is very rare and has been crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with textured finish. Fitted with a hinged double stick pins with a security trombone lock and a safety hook to wear as a brooch or a pendant.
The main central gemstone is beautiful pear cabochon cut (32 x 50 x 8 mm) of a rare natural blue turquoise from Arizona of 93.31 carats.
Flanked by a pair of natural vivid red Sardinian corals from the ox blood variety, carved and polished with free-forms and whimsically shaped roots with a combined weight of about 12 carats.
Accented around indiscriminately by 10 four-prongs settings, mounted with round brilliant cut white colorless diamonds, 1.10 carats, E color, VS-1 clarity.
Has a total weight of 65.8 Grams and a measurements of 73 mm by 50 mm (2.83 x 2 Inches).
Stamped with the maker's mark, the gold assay hallmark and signed, "KING 18KT".
Arthur King, was a renowned American master jeweler located in New York city that work between the 1960 and 1970. His most notorious was the using of the lost wax technique to set gemstones in a naturalistic form. He had shops in New York, Paris, Miami, London and La Havana. All his jewelry is avidly collected and mostly all items are one of a kind, never mass produced. His jewelry is held at the Victoria & Albert museum, the Moma museum, the New York Natural History museum and many others.
