This is an absolutely and gorgeous highly decorated antique spoon rest, created in Germany during the art nouveau period, back in the 1900. These unusual and rare pieces has been designed in two parts, in the shape of a Snow-sleight pulled by a Reindeer. Both pieces have been carefully crafted with impressive details in solid .935/.999 sterling silver. The entire pieces are decorated with chiseled and engraved designs with floriated patterns of scrolls. The sleigh has silver repousse acanthus scrolls on the sides with acanthus scroll stanchions, footboards, and runners. There is a vignette on each side of the sleigh, and neither of them has been monogrammed. On the front of the sleigh is the head of a winged cherub, and behind the cherub is a roaring lion head with an acanthus leaf mane with the inside part partially gilded.
