This is a magnificent set composed by a brooch and a pair of earrings, created in Vienna Austria back in the 1950 by the master goldsmith Anton Janda. This set was carefully crafted in the desired art nouveau style in solid yellow gold of 14 karats with high polished finish and embellished with a great assortment of natural earth mined gemstones, such; diamonds amethysts and green nephrite. The delicate green nephrite and the purple amethysts of an almost transparent lilac were exceptionally carved into the shapes of leaves and flowers in bloom, a bud and sepal with stems, and a full leaf complete with tiny, polished edges and realistic veins.
The earrings are made as a right and left and are fitted with posts for pierced ears and hinged French omega backs for fastening clips. The brooch is fitted with a single hinged pin bar with a trombone security lock.
Carved gemstone flowers have been a specialty in Austria and Germany for many years. From its hallmarks it can be determined that this was created in Austria for national sale inside the country or to be exported. This kind of jewelry pieces are very rare to see offered in the market, the quality, the condition and the beauty made these pieces a great addition to any serious collection.
Diamonds: Mount in four-prongs settings, with 7 European round cut diamonds, 0.35 carats, white colorless F/G color, VS-2 clarity.
Nephrite: Mount with 5 pieces, in the shape of leaves carved from natural green nephrite.
Amethysts: Embellished with 7 flowers carved from natural translucent purple amethysts.
Weight: 32.50 Grams, (20.83 Dwt).
Brooch Measurements: 62 mm by 46 mm (2.45 x 1.81 Inches).
Earrings measurements: 37 mm by 22 mm (1.49 x 1.80 Inches).
Hallmarks: Stamped with Austrian marks in use since 1922, six times with the W for the city of Vienna (Wien), the maker's mark AJ cartouche mark associated to Anton Janda., the mark .585 for the assay and warranty of the 14kt gold.
Collateral: This Anton Janda set is accompanied by a presentation jewelry box.
Condition: The overall condition of this Anton Janda set is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. The 18 gemstones are secured in the settings. These pieces has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
