Geometric art deco ring designed by Paul Nettler Lackritz.

Fabulous three-dimensional geometric piece, created during the American Art deco period back in the 1930. This rare volumetric cocktail ring has been crafted by the jewelry designer Paul Lackritz of Chicago in solid .900/.999 platinum with very high polished finish.

The design is very avant-garde for the time in which it was created and is made up of two volumes of rectangular shapes in three dimensions opposite each other. One of them is embellished with black jade carvings. The workmanship of this ring as it was built and the work of the details in the corners where the volumes meet is magnificent.

Gemstones: One of the volumes are geometrically mount with a  flush flat setting across the rectangular top panel with 9 French squared cut, of natural black jade with a combined weight of 2.25 carats. It is accented with a pair of spherical dots to reinforce the geometry.

Weight: 17.5 Grams, (11.22 Dwt).

Size: 6.25 sizeable.

Measurements: 28 mm by 15 mm (1.10 x 0.59 Inches) and raise 6.5 mm over the finger.

Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark, the assay for the platinum and signed, "LACKRITZ PLAT".

Paul N. Lackritz first opened his store in 1898 on Milwaukee Avenue in Chicago, Illinois, then moved to 29 East Madison Street in New York and was in the jewelry and luxury goods business until the 1950s at various other locations and places of the city. He formed and fabricated many different types of gold and platinum jewelry, silver serving platters, watches, sterling jewelry, porcelain, and eyeglasses/eyewear. He was the preeminent jewelers of the city of Chicago for several decades.

Very little is known about Paul Lackritz except that he was born in Russia in 1872 and arrive to Chicago in the 1892 growing his business as a silversmith and jewelry designer into a chain of three-stores. First in Chicago, then opening in New York and then in Beverly Hills.

It is very rare to see his jewelry work offered in today's market, but when it is seen, it is always amazing. What's interesting about his work is that he was very active in four distinct design eras: Arts and Crafts, Art Deco, Retro Deco, and Mid-Century Modern, often blurting out all four influences at once. He passed away on April 17, 1941, his son and senior partner Harry J. Lackritz ran the business until the early 1950s.

Collateral: It is accompanied by a presentation jewelry box.
