Cut crystal glass pitcher designed by Matthews & Co.
This is a gorgeous and very decorative antique Silver Overlay Crystal Pitcher, created in Newark New Jersey in the early 20th-century by the Matthews & Co. back in the 1900's. This American Edwardian pitcher have been crafted in very fine etched and cut-crystal and embellished with an overlay, made-up in pure .999/.1000 silver. This Pitcher has a beautiful cut florals design with a polished pontil, a curved handle and a hand-hammered silver overlay, all in perfect original condition. The Matthews & Company mark stamped on the side of the silver, dates the manufacture of this pitcher between 1907 and 1936, but obviously was made during the art nouveau period with art & crafts influence.

Matthews & Company
The Matthews & Co. was incorporated in 1907 and was located in Newark, NJ between the 1906 and1936. They merged later with Eleder-Hickok to become Hickok-Matthews Co. Makers of sterling hollowware. Then the company was bought out by Wolfgang Schroth in 1965. They became the Hickock Matthews Company and were still in business in the early 80s.
Condition: The overall condition of this Matthews & Co. pitcher is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the crystal or the silver. All parts are secured in their settings. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
