Taller De Los Ballesteros

n 1937 Jalil Majul Ballesteros was trained to do filigree work by his silversmith grandfather and godfather in Iguala, Mexico. The Ballesteros family had been silversmiths for generations in Guerrero and Jalil continued their tradition by starting a small family business. In 1941 he moved to Taxco, Mexico and switched to the style of the regional silversmiths. By the 1950's Jalil had expanded and was selling handmade Mexican silver jewelry to tourists in Mexico City, Acapulco, Puebla and Cuernavaca. To keep up with demand, work was farmed out to other family workshops in Taxco. The high-quality sterling silver jewelry produced was stamped with the Los Ballesteros and Taxco symbols.
