An Austro-Hungarian Empire pair of candle holders in silver
This is an amazing antique pair of candle holders with wonderful eye appeal created in Europe during the Austro-Hungarian Empire period between the 1870 and 1880. The candle holders, were crafted in Budapest Hungary in solid .800/.999 silver. They are decorated with incised hand engravings and engine turned patterns. Extremely well executed and impressive statements pieces, created during the ruling time of emperor Francis Joseph I. The Austrian Emperor in 1880 was Franz Joseph I (Francis Joseph I), who ruled the Austro-Hungarian Empire from 1848 until his death in 1916, making him the longest-reigning Habsburg monarch. At that time, the empire was a dual monarchy, established by the Compromise of 1867, where Austria and Hungary were equal partners, with Franz Joseph as Emperor of Austria and King of Hungary.
