DOLL & CO. 1900 German Antique Steam Twin Cylinders Piston Engine Machine
Scale model of motor engine designed by Doll & Co.
This is a model of a mill engine created in Nuremberg Germany by the Doll & Co. in the beginning of the 20th century. This is a horizontal twin engine machine, painted, nickel plated guard rail, belt operated ball governor, on custom shaped wooden base. This antique model is a miniature of the real one, manufactured to be installed in farms and factories and was masterfully crafted with beautiful details and great materials, such; bronze, iron and steel. The model is mount in a wood base for display. This so-called adult’s toys are highly collectable and display very well, a great conversation pieces. Recently cleaned and oiled for sharp function.
Doll & Co.
Doll & Co. was founded in 1898 in Nuremburg, Germany by tinsmith Peter Doll & John Sondheim with Max Bein (Sondheim’s nephew) joining as a third partner just before WWI. Doll & Co. specialized in steam toys and steam engines. The company made and sold model steam engines, steam toys, and steam accessories such as tractors, cars, trains, sawmills, fountains, and Ferris Wheels. Their toys were widely distributed throughout the UK, Europe, and the United States. The company exported a majority of its wares with most of it going to England and the United States. Around 1935, Doll & Co. was purchased by Fleischmann due to the Aryanization laws in place in Germany. Fleischmann continued to use the Doll & Co. name for a while and then after the war, Fleischmann offered to return the company to the original owners, but they declined, accepting a buyout of their shares instead.
