John Grinsell & Sons

They were a Birmingham and London based silversmith, originally established as Grinsell & Bourne in 1864. In 1871, after the partnership dissolved, John Grinsell formed a new company with his sons, Thomas Bywater Grinsell, James Erazmus Grinsell, Lorenzo Grinsell, and Joseph Charles Grinsell, renaming it John Grinsell & Sons. The company specialized in silver-mounted glass, stoneware, and ceramic items, including lock-up liquor frames, biscuit boxes, and salad bowls. They registered their trademark, "Cupid standing on a scroll," in 1879. The firm later became John Grinsell & Sons Ltd. in 1905 and was eventually acquired by Barker Ellis & Co. Ltd
