*Germany 1870 Important Pair of Neo-classical Salt Species cellars in sterling silver and 22 kt gilding
Rare pair of German Salt-Species Cellars.
An important matching pair of oversized salt and spicy cellars, created in Germany in the 19th century, circa 1870. These beautiful pieces has been carefully crafted in a three-dimensional triangle shape, with beautiful Neo-Classic patterns in solid .800/.999 silver and 22 karats gilding.
The three sides on each piece are completely embellished, with chiseled mythological and organic designs, caryatides at the corners and mounted in three rounds sabots.
They have a combined weight of 409.9 Grams and a measures of 120 mm by 120 mm by 60 mm (4.75 x 4.74 x 2.36 Inches)
Each one is stamped on the underneath, with multiples German hallmarks, the maker's mark, the city of origin, the silver assay mark and signed, "GERMANY .800".
They are in absolutely perfect condition, with the original gilding intact.
