-Delco Art Deco 1941 Vintage Bakelite R 1171 Tube Radio In Perfect Condition

Here we are offering an absolutely stunning 1941 Delco model R-1171 tabletop tube radio. Featuring a gorgeous dark brown marbled Bakelite cabinet, attractive dial, louvered grill, built in loop antenna and excellent performance.

Cabinet: The dark brown Bakelite cabinet is an absolute stunner. Eye catching marbling flows throughout the entire set. The large, louvered grill not only looks great but allows for optimal sound from the speaker. The radio was obviously well cared for over the years because it looks like it just came out of a time capsule! Other than a minor surface scratch here or there, under microscopic inspection, you'll be hard pressed to find a flaw anywhere. The set has been cleaned and meticulously polished back to its original showroom shine with Qar-Glayze polish. This stunning Art Deco piece is sure to spruce up any room in the home or office you choose to display it in.

Dial & Knobs: The large, black & gold dial is quite attractive. It is illuminated by a top mounted dial lamp for easy dim or dark room tuning. All letters and numbers are legible and show very little signs of wear. Both knobs are in perfect shape and control on/off & volume and tuning.

Chassis: All tubes in the 5-tube chassis were tested with any weak tubes being replaced. All caps, filters and resistors were checked and replaced as needed. All brittle or bare wiring was replaced or re-insulated. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed and re-aligned for optimal performance. Using just the built in loop antenna the radio performs very well. I'm able to receive many stations across the AM broadcast band with great tone and plenty of volume.

Note: Bakelite is a hard, infusible, and chemically resistant plastic. Bakelite was based on a chemical combination of phenol and formaldehyde (phenol-formaldehyde resin), two compounds that were derived from coal tar and wood alcohol (methanol), respectively, at that time. Rarity and desirability are some of the reasons Bakelite is so expensive. It's also highly collectible.

Condition: The overall condition of this radio is excellent in working condition. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the bakelite. All parts are secured in the settings. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
