ART NOUVEAU 1900 Sherry Liquor Bottle In Reddish Glass & Overlay Sterling Silver

Decanter bottle in clear glass with engraved silver overlay.

This is a beautiful continental early 20th century silver overlay decanter for sherry liquor or back bar bottle. The antique decanter was masterfully made in glass with a .998/.999 silver overlay collar above a dense overall pattern of engraved thistles and scrolling leaves. The decanter is in perfect condition with great aged patina and retains its sterling covered stopper with the same pattern.

Silver Overlay 

This is a glass decorative technique (c. 1889–1930s) where pure silver or sterling silver is electroplated onto glass, often featuring intricate Art Nouveau designs. Popularized in the early 1900s, this method involves painting a design with flux, firing it, and using electrolysis to build up silver, with key figures including Oscar Pierre Erard and John H. Sharling.

Condition: The overall condition of this decanter-bottle is excellent. Beside the little normal wear there is no damage to the silver and all parts are secured in the settings. This bottle was carefully inspected to guarantee the condition & authenticity.
