Blue-Marlin Fishing, Tournaments & Background
Blue marlin gained prominence as a sport fish, particularly in the Caribbean. The Blue marlin fishing history is tied to its rise as a coveted big-game sport fish in the 1920s and 1930s, popularized by authors like Hemingway and figures in the early Florida and Bahamas big-game scene. After WWII, its popularity spread worldwide, leading to the development of specialized gear and techniques. While a prized catch for recreational anglers, blue marlin also faces threats from commercial longline fisheries.
