Donald Claflin (1935-1979) was an American jewelry designer most associated with the colorful and whimsical designs he created for tiffany & co. during the sixties and seventies. His start in jewelry came when he joined the firm of David Webb, known for their buoyantly enameled figurative jewels that were a fresh contrast to the formality of the fifties. In 1965 Claflin was hired by tiffany & co. to continue in the innovative and individualistic design approach that designer Jean Schlumberger had so successfully established at the firm.

Note: In our 30 years of expertise engaged in the vintage jewelry business we never saw a piece like this. This bracelet is very similar to others pieces designed by Claflin in the end of the 60s. This pattern of twisted ropes was adopted later or at the same time by Jean Schlumberger.
