A VICTORIAN SCOTTISH BRACELET WITH AGATES.
BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE PIECE MADE IN SCOTLAND DURING THE VICTORIAN (1840-1901) ERA, CIRCA 1870-1880. THIS BRACELET WAS HAND CRAFTED IN 15 KARATS YELLOW GOLD AND IS MOUNTED WITH 6 NATURAL AGATES FROM SCOTLAND. SUITED, WITH THE ORIGINAL ROUND CRAB LOCK.
THE AGATES ARE CARVED WITH OCTAGONAL GEOMETRIC SHAPES AND HAS DIFFERENT COLORS GRADATIONS. THE AGATES VARIETIES IN THIS PIECE ARE NAMED AS FOLLOW; LEWISIAN, ISLA ROSE, RED JASPER, SCOTTISH, CAIRNGORM.
THIS PIECE IS VERY UNUSUAL, SINCE THE TWELVE CONNECTORS LINKS ARE HAND LABRATED WITH 96 DIFFERENT COAT OF ARMS AND SYMBOLS FROM SCOTTISH CLANS.
HAVE A WEIGHT OF 48.2 Grams AND A LENGHT OF 8 Inches.
AGATES HAVE BEEN COLLECTED IN SCOTLAND SINCE PREHISTORIC TIMES. NATIVE AGATE MATERIAL HAVE BEEN FOUND IN A NEOLITHIC CAIRN NEAR CAIRNHILL, MONQUHITTER IN ABERDEENSHIRE AND SOME SMALL SCRAPER TOOLS HAVE BEEN FOUND IN A MIDDLE STONE-AGE OCCUPATION SITE AT MORTON IN FIFE, THESE HAVE BEEN DATED AT SOME 7000-9000 YEARS OLD. MORE RECENTLY A NATIVE AGATE “CHARM STONE” WAS FOUND IN A FARM FIELD AT NEWSTEAD, ROXBURGHSHIRE THAT POSSIBLY DATES BACK TO THE ROMAN OCCUPATION OF SCOTLAND.
NOTE: THIS KIND OF BRACELETS ARE VERY RARE TO SEE MADE IN GOLD AND IN THIS ORIGINAL PRESERVED CONDITION.
IT IS IN GREAT CONDITION WITH NO TRACE OF WEAR. ALL CARVED AGATES HAS VERY SHARP EDGES WITH NO NICKS OR SCRATCHES.
