Rare earrings designed by Jean Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co.

This gorgeous pair was created at the prestigious jewelry atelier of Jean Schlumberger in Paris, France. They are part of the Schlumberger collection called "diamond dot banana".

Carefully crafted in solid 18 karats of high polished yellow gold and suited with posts and comfortable French omega backs for fastening clips.

Embellished with the iconic applications of vivid red foiled hot enamel over a guilloche surfaces. 

The surface is bezel set, with 20 round brilliant cut diamonds, geometrically placed, 1.40 Cts, E/F color, vs-1 clarity.

The total weight of this pair is 36.8 grams the measures are 29 mm (1.14 inches) by 18 mm.

Bot are stamped with beautiful and clear French hallmarks; two times with the eagle's head for the assay and guaranty of the 18 kt gold, the Minerva head for the gold jewelry exportation, two times with the maker's maitre cartouche SC for Schlumberger, the serial number and signed, "TIFFANY & CO. SCHLUMBERGER FRANCE .750 222".

The Parisian artist and jeweler Jean Schlumberger's (1907-1987) career began as a costume designer for Elsa Schiaparelli. Recognition came when in 1955; he joined Tiffany & Co, becoming the first designer given the privilege of signing his name to his jewelry creations. Schlumberger's love of nature such as butterflies, birds, sea life and flowers lean to enchanting designs that are highly prized and very collectible to this days.

In1956 the president of tiffany & co. Walter Hovin asked Jean Schlumberger to begin designing for the firm. He had his own workshop at the company until his retirement in the late 1970's and was eventually made vice president of the company. Schlumberger designs at tiffany were remarkable for their whimsical interpretation of natural forms. He was especially inspired by the sea creatures and others animals. He was an exceptional designer, jeweler and a master enameller.

Condition: The overall condition of this earrings is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. All the gemstones, are secured in the settings. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.

As a note, this pair was produced in two sizes, this is the larger and heavier variation.
