VERY RARE OBJET DE VERTU, JEWELRY PIECE FROM THE MODERNIST PERIOD, CIRCA 1970. CREATED IN MONTREAL, CANADA BY THE FAMED JEWELER-ARTIST ROGER LUCAS.
IT WAS HAND CRAFTED WITH IMPECCABLE DETAILS IN SOLID 18 KARATS OF TEXTURED AND POLISHED YELLOW GOLD. THE SCULPTURAL DESIGN OF THIS PIECE IS COMPOSED OF A MAIN SQUARE BODY, BASE-TYPE WHICH SUPPORTS A STRUCTURE OF CIRCULAR ELEMENTS SIMILAR TO A MACHINE.
THE CILYNDERS ELEMENTS ARE EMBELLISHED WITH 16 FOUR-PRONGS SETTINGS HOLDING CALIBRATED ROUND BRILLIANT CUTS DIAMONDS, 1.44 CARATS, F/G COLOR, VS-2 CLARITY.
HAVE A TOTAL WEIGHT OF 23.95 Grams AND THE ACTUAL SIZE IS 7.5, SIZABLE.
THE TOP VIEW MEASURES ARE 20 mm BY 21 mm AND RAISE 15.5 mm OVER THE FINGER.
IS SIGNED AT THE BOTTOM AND STAMPED WITH THE HALLMARKS,"LUCAS AD 1970 18 KT".
ALTHOUGH THIS RING IS NOT A WORK COMMISSIONED BY CARTIER, IT BELONGS TO THE SAME PERIOD OF 1969 AND 1970. ON OCTOBER 03, 1969, CARTIER LAUNCHED A COLLECTION OF ABOUT 200 JEWELRY PIECES ENTITLED ASTROLOGICAL, UNDERWATER, AND GEOMETRIC, ALL DESIGNED BY THE YOUNG CANADIAN JEWELRY DESIGNER, ROGER LUCAS, WITH A TWO-WEEK EXHIBITION AT ITS FLAGSHIP BOUTIQUE. THE JEWELRY MAISON, LUCAS, WAS ALREADY A WELL-ESTABLISHED SHOPPING DESTINATION FOR FINE JEWELRY IN MONTREAL, CANADA.
